1. Who we are
Spect-IT provides browser-based vision screening tools. We are not a medical provider and do not diagnose conditions or issue dispensable prescriptions.
2. Data we collect
- Email address (required to save results and book appointments)
- Vision test results and timestamps
- Appointment details (name, phone, notes) when you book a specialist
- Approximate location (only when you search for nearby optometrists)
- Technical data: browser type, device, anonymised usage for reliability
3. How we use data
To deliver test history, send result summaries, sync appointments with practices, and improve accuracy and uptime. We do not sell personal data.
4. Storage & processors
Data is stored in your browser (localStorage) and, when enabled, in Supabase (EU/US cloud PostgreSQL). Third-party services may include Google Maps (specialist search), Resend/Twilio (notifications), and Vercel (hosting). Each is used only to provide the feature you request.
5. POPIA (South Africa)
We process personal information lawfully for the purpose you provided it. You may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing privacy@spect-it.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Retention
Test results are kept until you clear browser data or request deletion. Cloud copies are retained up to 24 months unless deleted earlier on request.
7. Children
Spect-IT is intended for users 16+. Parents or guardians should supervise minors using screening tools.
8. Medical disclaimer
Screening results are informational only. Always consult a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment.
